I’m pretty sure I’m still in a state of shock about the whole thing, but he finally popped the question! I feel like a marriage proposal is something little girls (or at least me) have dreamt about their whole life and let me tell you, it was worth all of the anticipation!
I received a message from our very sweet photographer, Karlee asking if we would be up for doing a family photo session while her videographer followed along to capture “behind the scenes” shots for her website. Of course I instantly agreed and was all in because who doesn’t love a free family photoshoot?!
When I told Austin about helping Karlee he was oddly okay with it. I usually get the whole “ugh, can’t you and the boys just do it” when it comes to taking photos so that was a little suspicious to me. I met up with some girl friends a couple days prior to the shoot and I couldn’t bear to hold it in anymore so I word vomited “I THINK AUSTIN IS GOING TO PROPOSE” . After I told them the story about the photographer and Austins odd response, they jumped on the excited train with me. Austin later heard from the girls that I thought it was going to happen soon. In order to keep it a surprise, he immediately came to me to squash any speculations. I was of course devastated and went back to reality that this just wasn’t the time.
Fast forward 5 days later it was the day of our family photoshoot with Karlee. We drove up to our family cabin, got dressed and met our photographer and videographer at the pond. Karlee asked to take me down by the water to test the lighting. I didn’t think anything of it because she has done that with me in previous shoots. What I didn’t know was happening was Austin was showing the boys the ring and was asking for Ashton’s (my oldest) approval. Ashton of course said YES. Austin walked up behind me and whispered in my ear “ I bet you didn’t know this was all apart of the plan” and my heart SUNK to my stomach. I turned around and he went down on one knee. The rest I completely blacked out for, but thankfully the videographer caught it all on camera. I remember looking over at Ashton and August. Ashton had this big smile on his face and nodded his head “yes”. It was truly
